The whistle flute is many thousands of years old. From the Aztec, Maya, and Inca people of Central and South America. The instrument was brought to Europe by the Spanish where it arrived in Italy and Britain and was transformed. The instrument's Italian name has been adopted world wide: "Ocarina".
These 4-hole and 5-hole whistle flutes are hand crafted in clay and individually decorated and tuned. 2 1/2" 'Goddess' with 4-hole (full diatonic scale)or 5-hole (extra note above the high dominant). 4-holed traditional tuning. Low haunting tones. Each hole uncovered separately plays a perfect fourth. Each hole large enough so that sliding across the hole diatonic and chromatic scales can be played. Finger chart included.

These sculptures are tuned, soft low tones, and play a full octave. These sculptures, approximately 4 1/2 - 5 1/2", are made for the coffee table, desk/curio cabinet - we consider them to be our show pieces and collectors items. No two sculptures are ever alike - choose from bird or fish or Lorna's imagination. All are trimmed in 14K gold accents. Available as 4-hole or 6-hole.
