Tressie Gilmore –

"I recently spent two weekends at the Fire Om Earth Studio and Retreat Center. I was there for the boot making workshop. It was not as easy as I thought it would be but at the same time it was therapeutic and in the end very satisfying to create from start to finish boots custom made for my feet with my own unique style.

I also stayed at the cottage both weekends. It was cozy, comfortable and extremely quiet! I forgot how quiet quiet really is. The cottage has an interesting history and is built into the side of the mountain with back wall being all rock with formations and natural water movement. If you’re looking for something fun and different check out this place."

"Disappear into the Extraordinary

When life’s curveballs cancelled our trip overseas, my friend and I were initially dismayed at the prospect of staying close to home for our January getaway. Then while seeking a yoga retreat in Eureka Springs, we stumbled across Fire Om Earth Retreat Center, and what a lucky find it turned out to be.

What we found off the beaten path down a gravel road and nestled in a hollow with its own running creek was balm for our winter weariness and restoration for our souls. We saw immediately from Fire Om’s online pictures that the guest cottage and environs would delight our appreciation of artistic touches, nature, and the unusual, from a cave-like rock wall in the sitting room to a gorgeous mosaic tile above the square bathtub to the gently creaking porch swing floating high above bamboo stalks. From our first email inquiry to our last reluctant goodbye, proprietor and host Lorna Trigg was kind, caring, and generously accommodating to our every retreat wish, and even a few whims. She helped us craft an individualized retreat that included apothecary classes for me, art classes for my friend, and free time to wander the incredible grounds of Fire Om and in the nearby shops and dining delights of Eureka Springs.

We enjoyed moonlit yoga on a spacious deck above the babbling brook, got lost by choice in the flora and fauna of a steep hill we climbed with the tenacity of first explorers, and reverently meditated at spots across the retreat center’s many acres, purposefully spaced and painstakingly built to nurture deep contemplation in outdoor tranquillity. We delighted ourselves chopping logs and making fire in the wood-burning stove, taking in the female energy of the altar at the labyrinth’s centerpiece, and hearing coyotes howl on a dark winter’s night.

We left retreated, restored and even rehabilitated, energized enough for another go at civilization and deeply grateful for our time at Fire Om Earth."
